More Firenze Adventures and Art

The hillside in Florence, view from across the Arno River

The 13th Century Palazzo Vecchio continues to serve as the seat of the City Government of Florence.

Campanile di Giotto , the tower alongside of the Duomo
(The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore) as seen from the roof of the Uffizi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uffizi) ,
Florence's most famous art gallery containing the greatest collection of Renaissance art in the world (no photos allowed inside, but the most notable piece was Botticelli's Birth of Venus c. 1485)

The Palazzo Strozzi , a modernized ancient building turned gallery is currently showing: Angry Young Men: The birth of Modernity, featuring early works of Picasso, Miro, and Dali

There was a lot of interactive and creative space within the gallery for kids (or 31 year olds...)

Only snapped a few shots because photos were not permitted inside the show.

The courtyard features an open creative space, with floor pillows, sleek white tables equipped with colored pencils to make your own masterpiece. There were also turntables set up with really cute Italian DJ's dropping funky beats.

Downstairs featured Virtual Identities, mostly installation art representing the term "identity" as it is currently defined in light of the growing role of digital technologies and social media in modern society. It was not pretty art, but very interesting and indicative of how consumed we are with our sexy Mac products, our Facebooks, and our blogs (my blog is the best blog) .

Side Wall Plank (I felt really diagonal when I was striking this pose, but as it turned out, my arm and body made more of an obtuse angle. And my head and neck are egregiously out of spinal alignment, but whatevs).
